What is a Virtual Reality ?
Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that allows the user to interact with a 3-dimensional environment simulated by a computer to a real object or imagination, thus making the user as if physically present in that environment.
History Technology Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)
First period VR and AR just a figment of the imagination, but now the technology of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) is starting to feel the implications and many are already using it, how the actual history of the VR itself from year to year, the following summary.
- in the 1800s, people have been trying to look "different atmosphere" through paintings panorama. Painting entitled "Battle of Borodino, 1812" describes the atmosphere of war in a large field.
- In the same century, precisely in 1838, Charles Wheatstone demonstrated that the brain processes the two different 2D images in each eye. He then created the View-Master stereoscope for "virtual tourists". This concept is used in Google Cardboad today.
- In 1929, Edward Link creates a Link Trainer is a flight simulator and entirely electromechanical. This tool is used by prospective pilot training capability during World War II.
- In 1957, Morton Heilig regarded as the father of virtual because it successfully developed patented Sensorama.
- 1960 VR screens in head first created. Heilig create Telesphere Mask danhead-mounted display (HMD) as a medium to watch movies without being able to interact with the movement. Headset it only displays 3D views, so that the film becomes real.
- 1961, the next year, then VR can detect motion created by technicians Philco Corporation.
- In 1962, a small theater that stimulates all the senses. He is equipped with a 3D screen, fan, generator smell, and the seats vibrate so filmgoers can enjoy the film with real experience.
- In 1968, Ivan Sutherland, who also serves as associate professor of electrical engineering at Harvard University, and his student Bob Sproull create VR / AR systems mounted display (HMD), the tool called the sword of democles. although these tools are very heavy binocular display and head tracking, since then more and more discoveries of various scientists.
- 1972: General Electric developed the first computer for flight simulators.
- 1977: Sayre Gloves were first documented.
- 1979: The military began experimenting with simulation headset.
- 1980: The first virtual interactive map created.
- 1981: Thomas Furnes developed the "Virtual Cockpit".
- 1985: The development of the first practical system of the view finder stereo.
- Despite been created, the name of virtual reality was born in 1987 when Jaron Lanier, the inventor of visual programming lab (VPL) making. Lanier then create a lot of virtual reality range including Dataglove, EyePhone, and sell Virtual Reality gogles and gloves.
- 1990: Surge Sense8 discovered by Pat Gelband.
- 1991: W. Industries building Virtuality, with headset and glasses to seeVR later appeared in works of science fiction in films like Startrek and others.
HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF VIRTUAL REALITY (VR) AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) 1993
- 1993 SEGA - VR Japanese game company began to look at the technology into a company that announced the first VR glasses prototype at CES 1993. Sega VR-1 is equipped with a sensor head movement and 3D polygon graphics in stereoscopic 3D. Unfortunately only the arcade version was released, canceled its home console version, size, were much more modern and lighter than the sword of democies.
- 1995: Nintendo released the "Virtual Boy".
- 1997: Development of the device that allows to conduct experiments in a real movement cabina.
- 2003: Making the most famous 3D world "Second Life".
- 2004: Google buys Earth-view.
- 2005: Nintendo Wii launched.
- 2012: Oculus Rift, a virtual reality device for gaming and professional use is made.
- 2014: The emergence of virtual reality headset Sony Project Morpheus.
- 2016: Approximately 10 million people will be using VR headsets. In addition to SEGA, Nintendo's Virtual Boy also has a 3D gaming console. But failed due to lack of good graphics and colors that are only available in black and white. A few also software that supports this console so that production was stopped just a year after its launch.
Not long ago, a large technology companies like Google have released a simple product for the 3D experience. Samsung has the Galaxy Gear while Facebook has the Oculus Rift. HTC has released soon Vive while Sony released the PlayStation VR and Microsoft with Hololens
2018: Approximately 5.2 million dollars will be disbursed in the consumption of this virtual reality.
Technology Virtual Reality (VR) is applied in various applications by several developers to show their products are not restricted by large companies, but also the start-ups and young entrepreneurs, so predictable Technology Virtual Reality (VR) will continue to grow.
Applications and Examples Vitual Reality
This technology is typically used in the medical field, architecture, and airlines are at risk of a very large and requires a prototype that mimics real conditions before it is implemented. For example, a prospective pilot can use VR to flight simulation using specialized computer to perform the test.
The appliance Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality usually requires special equipment, such as computer display (screen) to display environment, speakers (speakers) to receive auditory information, locator (tracker) to monitor the movement of the head of the user, gloves (glove) to capture the hand movements and sends movement information to the system, a walker (walker) to monitor the movement of the feet, etc.

How it Works Virtual Reality
In principle, the user sees a not real world that is actually a result of dynamic images from a computer simulation. Through special devices VR, users can interact with the world and get feedback apparent that seems real, both physically and psychologically.
Disadvantages of Virtual Reality
People may experience feelings of loss of reality and a feeling of isolation as they interact with an artificial world, instead of the real world with real people. Finally, virtual reality could increase unemployment, fewer people are needed to design projects.
Advantages of Virtual Reality
There are many advantages of using virtual reality of hard work can be made easier by using the various aspects of a computer, for example like designing something like building buildings, hotels and design house plans.
Doing some exercise as complicated as flying the aircraft exercises we can do with the stimulator.
And the game "virtual reality can be used as an escape for some people who are already tired of the problems in the real world, such as Second Life, The Sims, and fable.
it's just a little review that I give. hopefully what we know will be beneficial for us. Thank You've read my article.
